Creating the right culture

Maintaining a strong and cohesive company culture is a challenge for any organization, especially as it grows. So just how have Envisage Dental managed to keep a family-like culture with its network of 800 colleagues across the country?  We asked co-founder and CEO, Harry Gill, what he credits this success to.

Creating and maintaining a strong company culture can be a challenge, especially as a company grows larger. However, our company has been able to maintain a culture that feels like a family, even with a team of 800 across the nation. I would pin this down to 5 key areas that have contributed to our success in creating the right culture:

1.     Clear Values, Vision, and Purpose: Envisage Dental has a clear set of values everyone works within and a strong sense of purpose. These values and our purpose guides all our decision-making and actions. Our vision is to redefine group dentistry by having a relentless focus on high quality clinics, where our support teams are exclusively designed for these types of clinics only. Our purpose to be a force for good and make a positive impact in the world helps our teams work together to achieve our goals.

2.     Communication: Clear, effective, and transparent communication is key to maintaining a strong company culture. We encourage open and honest communication at all levels of the group. This helps to ensure that everyone feels heard and valued, and that everyone understands the common goal we are working towards. We encourage open dialogue and create channels for feedback and collaboration, which helps to promote a sense of belonging and unity. We also prioritize transparency in decision-making and are committed to keeping our team informed about company goals and progress.

3.     Team Building: We regularly organize team building activities and events to bring our team together and build relationships. These events include everything from volunteer activities to social outings, and they help to foster a sense of camaraderie and belonging among our team.

4.     Empowerment: We believe in empowering our colleagues and clinics to take ownership of their work and contribute to the success of their clinic and the wider group. Everyone is part of our story, and so giving them this sense of empowerment helps to create a culture of trust and respect, where everyone feels valued and supported.

5.     Recognition and Rewards: We recognize and reward our colleagues for their hard work and contributions. This includes everything from employee appreciation events to bonuses and promotions. By showing our team that we value their contributions, we help to create a culture of appreciation and positivity.

While creating and maintaining a strong company culture can be a challenge, it is possible to maintain a family-like atmosphere even as a team grows. At Envisage Dental, we prioritize clear values and purpose, effective communication, empowerment, team-building, and recognition and reward. These factors help to create a sense of belonging and unity, and we believe that they are key to our continued success at Envisage Dental.
